Nortel T7208 telephone is an eight key phone and is the most popular telephone in the Norstar digital telephone range. The T7208 is slightly bigger the T7100 and also comes with a tilting screen. You have a Red indicator in the screen which indicated weather you have an incoming call or have voice mail. The screen has a single line LCD which displays the time and date when the telephone is not in use. Below the screen you have three keys FEATURE, HOLD and the RLS keys.

FEATURE Key: This key you would press before you enter the feature code for example the enter last number feature you would press the FEATURE key first then the code (5).

HOLD Key: The key simply holds the call that you have picked up or made, then by pressing the button that's flashing you then retrieve that call.

RLS Key: This key will release any internal or external call that is being made.

Below these keys you have the dialling pad and the volume bar. On the right hand side you have eight keys that as default they are Feature Keys. You can program these keys either as Line Keys of External Numbers.

The Norstar T7208 is a full handsfree telephone that has a speaker and a mic and if you needed to attach a headset you have a direct connect port.

Button Inquiry

Confirm that your memory button has the correct snap-on cap by checking its programming

1. Release all calls and open lines with dial tones on your telephone.

2. Press FEATURE Key followed by X then 0.

3. Read the display

4. Press FEATURE Key when finished.

 

Adjusting the display contrast on your Nortel T7208

 

1. Press Feature X then 7.

2. Press 1 to 9 for the level you want

 

Selecting the rigth ring type and volume on your Nortel T7208 phone

 

1. Press FEATURE X then 6.

2. Press 1, 2, 3, or 4 to hear the different types of rings.

3. While the T7208 Phone is ringing press volume up or down to adjust the volume.

4. Press FEATURE to store the ring

 

Adjusting receiver or telephone speaker volume

 

1. Press volume up or down on your phone when using the receiver or the speaker.

 

To Hold a call on your Phone

 

1. Press HOLD

2. Press HOLD again to return to the call on hold. Check the display for confirmation or additional information

 

Making Calls from your Phone

 

Norstar telephone system can have different types of line buttons. Match the line buttons on your telephone with the ones below for instructions on how to use them.

Internal calls using intercom buttons

 

1. Pickup the receiver.

2. When right arrow appears beside an extension button, then dial.

 

External calls using numbered line buttons

 

1. Pickup the receiver

2. When right arrow appears beside a numbered line button, then dial OR Press a numbered line button without right arrow, then dial.

 

Dialling without lifting the handset

 

1. Press line button without indicator arrow, then dial your call.

2. When answered, pickup the receiver, or press HANDSFREE/MUTE.

3. If the call is not answered, or the line is busy, press RLS.

 

Programming Memory Button

 

External Autodial

 

1. If you are on a call or an open line with dial tone, press HOLD or RLS.

2. Press FEATURE X then 1.

3. Dial the external number.

4. Press HOLD to store the number

5. Label your new button.

 

Internal Autodial

 

1. If you are on a call or an open line with dial tone, press HOLD or RLS.

2. Press FEATURE X then 2.

3. Dial the internal number.

4. Label your new button.

Erasing memory buttons

 

1. If your on a call or an open line with dial tone, press HOLD or RLS

2. Press FEATURE X then 1.

3. Press HOLD to erase the button.

 

Changing Time and Date on your Meridian Modular or Compact Plus Telephone system.

 

1. Press Feature x x 8463 (x x TIME) you should have Password displayed on your telephone.

2. Enter 22742 (BASIC) or 23646 (ADMIN) you now should have Hour on your display.

3. Now press Change and enter the correct hours using the key pad

4. Press NEXT and you should have Minutes displayed on your telephone, now press CHANGE and enter the correct Minutes.

5. Press NEXT and you should have Year displayed on your telephone, now press CHANGE and enter the correct Year.

6. Press NEXT and you should have Month displayed on your telephone, now press CHANGE and enter the correct Month.

7. Press NEXT and you should have Day displayed on your telephone, now press CHANGE and enter the correct Day.

8. Now you will have ---End of List--- displayed on your screen, you can now press Rls or handset down button to come out of programming.
